Unexpected Surprises
On our adventure to Quebec City we decided to leave a day earlier and were “winging it” on the hotel front. We didn’t have anything booked for December 30th. We knew we would be staying at Fairmont Le Chateau in Old Quebec City so we decided to check out a resort outside the town and see what that was about.
We booked Entourage sur-le-lac and were so pleasantly surprised. We had never heard of it but booked it online through AMEX. We got in around 5:00 PM where it was already dark. But there are ski and snowboard slopes just along the way and it looked simply beautiful. The slopes didn’t look overly crowded and was perfect for a ski getaway (hopefully I don’t spoil this little gem with an uptick of people, lol)! We were only there for the night so didn’t even plan on skiing while we were there.
We checked in and the rooms were massive. There was a living room, kitchen and two separate bedrooms with king beds. We also had two separate bathrooms. Felt like a little condo with a beautiful balcony to boot.
Then we decided just to eat at the hotel restaurant which look super cute. We headed downstairs to Lilot Restaurant. But before we sat down, we decided to explore the downstairs area since it seemed pretty busy.
The ballroom had a bunch of bounce houses and tons of kids playing. We then found a kids club area with an air hockey table, games, books, coloring, hockey goals and just couches for them to lounge on. It was completely unexpected and ended up being the kids favorite hotel!
So we got a table where they made great cocktails and the food was tasty. The restaurant had setup a “kids buffet” where they can fix their plate that also had healthy options along with the standard options. It composed of soup, salad, chicken, salmon and pizza. It also had small dessert bites as well. It was a hit. Kids were able to grab some dinner and then head around the corner to the bounce houses and play with a bunch of kids.
The kids ran back to tell us they met a friend who was from Tampa! We ended up meeting the family and sure enough, they lived right down the street from us and have been coming to Entourage-sur-le-lac for years. It’s truly a small world. The kids made smores around the fire pit with their new friends and continued to play before it was eventually bed time.
The next morning we got our snow and hockey gear on to go ice skating in the back. They have a massive lake for ice skating. Unfortunately, the weather wasn’t cold enough and the late was off limits. But they did have a small area that we could skate on and we definitely made the most of it.
We enjoyed this resort so much that we checked out of Fairmont Chateau early and came back to spend two more nights there before heading back to Montreal. Now imagine when it’s a bit more cold and the lake is completely frozen, we would have spent lots of time skating around.
