Secrets of the Jedi Training at Hollywood Studios
If you or your kids are Star Wars buffs, I’m sure you’re familiar with the Jedi Training at Hollywood Studios! Kids get to fight against Darth Vader and Kylo Ren, pretty exciting if your a kid. But this training is not an easy feat and you have to be strategic if you want your kids to be guaranteed to participate.
There are two recommendations I will offer you and both cost a bit of splurging financially if you’re able to but both also worth it to complete the ultimate Disney trip for your kids!
First option, stay at a Disney Resort and take advantage of the magic hours at Hollywood Studios when it opens up an hour earlier for the resort guests. This gives you an extra hour to jump ahead of the crowd.
Additionally, we like to stay on Disney’s Boardwalk so that we can walk to Hollywood Studios or jump on the boat. They have great resort options and from fairly Budget friendly to pricey. I discuss more about the Disney Resorts here! We love the Beach and Yacht Club the most but Swann or Dolphin are also great options!!
Second option, make Disney Dining reservations at the park before the park opens. This gets you in the door before everyone else and you can go directly to the sign-up table and get almost a first pick on times.
If you go past 9:00 AM…..you’re almost unlikely to get signed up. You could get on the reserve list but not many people jump off the list. The people are piling up in the line as soon as the park opens. So if you want to give yourself an advantage….note the above.
With all that being said, my boys love the Jedi Training. The first time my 5 year old was capable….his little brother about lost it because he who was just old enough but not old enough if that makes sense. He DID NOT want to wear the Jedi Jacket and although he desperately wanted to fight Darth Vader, his stubbornness got him kicked out. There is a massive waitlist for other kids who want to do this. So I had to be the mean parent and teach him a lesson. You follow the rules or you don’t get to participate. Soooooo, needless to say, I had one child living a dream on stage fighting Darth Vader while the other was living a nightmare crying in my arms that he couldn’t be up there. It made for quite the memory.
When his time finally came again….he wore the cape and made sure to ecstatically tell me, “MOMMY! MOMMY! Look I’m wearing the cape!” It was quite hilarious because he certainly learned his lesson and his brother was so excited to experience it with him on this go around.
Hollywood Studios is really an amazing park for the Star Wars lover. Meeting all the characters, watching the Storm Troopers walking through the park, the various shows and the rides…..we can’t wait until the entire Star Wars area opens in 2019. But with that being said, watch out for bigger and crazier crowds coming in on top of the new Toy Story ride.
